A native of El Salvador, Maria Torres moved to the United States with her family when she was 10. She is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and currently works as the health equity coordinator for Pottawattamie County Public Health. “In my role with the health department, I work every day in making sure all communities and people feel heard and represented,” she said.
